Hey, looky there. I do have a real camera. D’ar was looking so peaceful on his (purloined) bed in the nice, warm sun and I couldn’t resist. He waited very patiently while I crawled all around him to get the perfect angle, too. Young padawan is learning.

Arugula in Grown-up Tuna Noodles
Broccoli in Sicilian Broccoli Rice
Tomatoes Oven-Roasted Tomato Jam
Zucchini in Umami Noodles
Leftover vegetables from last week in Halibut & Vegetables in Papillote

My Favorite Recipe From This Box
Umami Noodles
Put a large pot of generously salted water on to boil.
While your water is working, dice 2 small zucchini and 1 oz. dried porcini mushrooms.
Sautee zucchini in 1 Tbsp. olive oil over medium-high heat until soft, approximately 3-4 minutes.
Add 1 more Tbsp. olive oil, 1/2 Tbsp. unsalted butter and porcini mushrooms. Sautee until zucchini is falling apart and porcini reconstitute, approximately 5 minutes.
Toss with 1/3 package cooked “No Yolk” wide egg noodles, 1/2 Tbsp. unsalted butter and 2 Tbsp. soy sauce.
Enjoy. Serves 1 as a hearty dinner, 2 as a light dinner.

What I made: Mashed Cauliflower with Dill, Warm Winter Vegetable Salad with Bacon, Stir-Fried Celery in Meat Sauce, Ribollita, Feta & Walnut Salad.

Most days, this is what I see when I glance up from working. Of course there are no birds in this shot–figures. They’re surprisingly hard to capture while wheeling and dancing in the air.
The hawks surfing in warm up drafts pushed off the hot asphalt are even harder to catch. The great flocks of white sea birds with their picture-perfect arched wings even harder still.
Generally they all just end up looking like dust. Or blurs. Some day. Some day I will catch one of the flocks of birds that wraps their flight path around my corner of the building. But not today. Today I have blue skies with a light scud of clouds.

The lobby of my building. Taken with the Hipstamatic app: Lucifer VI lens, Kodot XGrizzled film. I contemplated taking a picture of the Sicilian-ish style simmered tomato, onion & caper sauce with broccoli and rice I wolfed down for dinner, but the end of the day was too damn stressful with last-minute copy deadlines. So, a quick-snapped shot of the building after getting dog food at Target before the boys starve to death will just have to suffice.

Taken with the Blend Cam app (standard shot with monochrome version overlay) outside of YiYa’s Bakery/Cuban Restaurant, which serves up the best Pan Con Bistec in town. Their Cuban and breakfast sandwiches kick ass, too. Low on grease, high on quality.

My little bites, D’artagnan. He’s a pint-sized punk-rock Napoleonic dictator, but the cuddlyist little guy I know. Since returning from the chaos that was Weinerfest, he’s been extra sleepy and extra snuggly. Neither of us is complaining.
