Ready to roll on another kiddo blanket.

Braved my local grocery today. From what I’ve heard, this store is expensive.

Prices in USD in pen for comparison. Some things are way more expensive than NYC; some cheaper.
The available selection of goods is going to take some getting used to.
Unpacking – these things meant so much to me a few days ago, now they’re irrelevant.

Not pictured: my lifeline – aka my MTA transit card. Completely missed that while cleaning out my wallet.
Also: whoooooo boy, I’m happy to get rid of that pic! W.T.Everloving.F. is up with that face?

Hello, Doha!
Sunset at the Pearl marina, where my DH took me out to a great little Spanish paella place for my first dinner in Qatar.
After he showed me the grocery store and patiently let me wander every aisle proclaiming delight and dismay over all of the contents, and utter confusion over the prices.
I’ve got a good one on my hands.

Bye, NYC!
I intend to write much more on the subject when my brain and body get back in sync. Wouldn’t say I’m jet lagged, per se, just that 6 weeks of crap sleep and stress are attempting to catch up with me, now that I’m safely and firmly in a foreign country.

Last meal as a New York City resident: Lakruwana in Staten Island.
Not only is the food beyond delicious, but the decor is really something special and you can feel the owners’ love of country come through with everything they bring to the dining experience.

I was lucky enough for my last meal to be their weekend buffet.

From clockwise left corner: curry pineapple (hands down my favorite), roasted sticky eggplant (a close favorite), lightly curried mixed vegetables with pickled onions, dark pork curry with shredded coconut topper, kale & coconut salad (also stellar).
Not pictured: mango custard, gooseberry custard, coconut tapioca sugo & swollen belly.

Mmmmmm … lengua, al pastor & carnitas.

Gonna miss this grit.
