Home again

My last day in Sydney!

The Observatory

Last lunch with a view

A stroll through the city

Then on to the airport and on the plane home!
Sorry, guys – no recipe today. Hopefully I’ll get into the swing of cooking again once I’m home so I have something to post for next week!
Today – my last full day in Sydney, I:

Hit some local markets

Wandered a hipster neighborhood

Cruised through Darling Harbour again, then on the Kings Wharf and Bangaroo
Then back to Circular Quay and the lie of the train “home” – service was out, so I made my way up a hill and down 3 blocks to catch the bus.
Then back out for a late dinner somewhere Asiany and porky.
Took the train out to the Blue Mountains for some very light hiking

Then back to town to explore Finger Wharf

And get screamed at by wild, loose cockatoos

Then back to the Opera House to catch the sunset light show
Today’s adventure:
The Coastal Walk from Bondi to Coogee Beaches

Today’s adventure:

Hyde Park Barracks Museum (which was awesome)

A stroll through the Botanical Gardens

Then a feet to Watson’s Bay to see the lighthouse and Gap (aka the entrance to Sydney Harbour)

Another 22,000 Steps in the book – too bad I’m not doing a Walk To Mordor challenge!
Taronga Zoo

Where I saw giraffes

Checked out their killer view

Was told who’s boss by a big chimpanzee

And got up close with local bird life (and spider monkeys!).

Then it was back on the ferry, off to Cockatoo Island to learn about ship building (pics to come from the big camera)

And back to Circular Quay to see the Opera House up close.

Happy Birthday to my love – though we didn’t get to spend your day together this year, I love you and you were of course all up in my thoughts as I hit the CBD (Central Business District) for some semi-practical retail therapy.

Ferries to Manly Beach & Milson’s Point + the Rocks Discovery Museum

If you hadn’t noticed, I’ve been on a Japanese kick again lately, and I’m determined to lick this delicate-yet-complex flavor profile and bend it to my low carb ways (muahaha).
