Tonight was my early Birthday celebration night. This photo is from dinner. We had the omikase at Morimoto and it was stellar. These lantern things are from the salad course – a kind of deconstructed bagna cauda salad — veggies + a super crusty pesto baguette that tasted in the best possible way of char to dip into an anchovy sauce being warmed over a candle. Fun and delicious.

The night concluded with Sleep No More, a fantastic choose your own adventure style play/life experience set in the stunning yet creepy McKitterick hotel. The actors were all dancers with impossibly beautiful movements, the plot was loose and subjective to experience, we were all in masks and silent, the sets were meticulously detailed and eerily beautiful (with lots of things to open and read), and I ended up running up and down 4 flights of stairs following actors. It was a really special kind of experience. The DH and I got split up almost immediately (the whole place was crazy dim), and ended up having a better time for it – we both independently ended up fully exploring the same floor – the sanatorium floor – at different times, but had completely different experiences on that floor. Overall, the “play” is hard to explain, but it was definitely a night to remember.
