Out & about exploring

October 13, 2021

🤦‍♀️ This is a lesson on measuring more than twice, cutting once. After cutting all the pieces for the 18th c. corset I’m making, hand sewing the boning channels (over 70 of them), attempting a couple hand done eyelets, cutting & sanding the bones and starting to piece the panels together, I noticed something … 2 of my panels were definitely backwards. So, not thinking, I ripped, flipped & re-sewed those 4 panels (2 of each). Cool. … And then I went to re-fit, discovering that I now needed to re-re-do two of the flipped panels + flip one of each of the other two. I’d made exact copies of my corset halves – not mirror images. Whelp, they say you only make such a mistake once …

Makes up for yesterday’s lazy knee pic, no?

Pomegranate Beef Meatballs

Another Middle Eastern-inspired meatball recipe, this time with beef. Do you see a trend here? I’ve got a lamb version coming soon (hopefully – if my idea works out).

gluten-free, paleo

Pomegranate Beef Meatballs

1 lb. ground beef

1/3 c. slivered almonds

3 Tbsp. pomegranate molasses

3 Tbsp. nutritional yeast

2 Tbsp. pomegranate arils

3 Tbsp. cilantro, chopped

1/2 small onion, minced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 Tbsp. turmeric

2 Tbsp. fish sauce or Worcestershire (check labels if paleo or gf)

Salt & pepper

Preheat your oven to 200C/375F and prepare a baking sheet.

Combine all ingredients with your hands, mixing well.

Form into meatballs – mine were roughly golf ball shaped.

Bake about 15 minutes.

Great alongside last week’s recipe for Pomegranate & Fig Salad.

Makes enough to serve 4
