Keto Day 10 of 30

Woke up vaguely headachey and really thirsty today. Apparently, I did not get enough water yesterday. My mood has also been kinda crappy today – not sure if that’s related to diet or other shit, but it’s worth noting.
Breakfast

A repeat of yesterday’s smoothie.

Stomach was unsettled after breakfast again.

Lunch

A repeat from yesterday – only with some leftover chicken from dinner one night.

Was hungry after lunch again – I think I need to add nuts or something with extra crunch to these salads. 

Dinner

Went simple again – broccoli & ground pork with butter and bacon fat.

Snack

2 coconut fat bomb blocks as an afternoon snack.

Extra Snack

Stayed home from an activity I was looking forward to because my mood was in the toilet.

Thought maybe some fat would do me good – had a Tablespoon of sunflower seed butter off the spoon, because let’s face it – that’s all I’m really looking for in a dessert. Screw chocolate – I just want peanut butter.

Keto Day 9 of 30

Today was Ok. Was a bit nauseous after breakfast again, and felt generally like poo – not sure if that was because of anxiety, having to force myself through 3 job interviews when I had the stamina for zero, keto or staying up too late. Probably a combination of all of the above. 
Breakfast

Made a slightly different Keto smoothie – almond milk, spinach, MCT oil, ginger, cilantro & avocado. It’s not my favorite smoothie, but I was ok. I miss my non almond milk-based smoothie.

Lunch

A repeat from yesterday. Ate the last of the rotisserie chicken in a “taco” salad with guac & lime dressing.

Dinner

Another riff on a broccoli bowl. I think brocccoli bowls are going to be my Keto staple – this one was broccoli, pepper, seasoned ground beef, a little tomato paste, some spices & balsamic. 

Of course I forgot to take a pic. I made dinner really early. 
Snack

2 of those coconut Fat Bombs after yoga class.

Had another strangely vivid dream last night – this one was inspired by the book I’m reading – Seven Eves, about the moon breaking up and humanity having to move to the stars. This was a combination anxiety dream and excitement dream.

Vivid dreams are nothing new to me, though I find it curious to note that vivid dreams are reported by keto people as “a thing”.
Breakfast

Keto smoothie with an added half Tablespoon of MCT oil because I forgot to double it when making them.

Post-breakfast I was a bit nauseus and my stomach was really unsettled.

Lunch

Felt better around lunchtime. 2 ounces rotisserie chicken, salad mix, guacamole and an olive oil/lime juice dressing.

Snack

I get to snack today! I had a Hard boiled egg about an hour after lunch to help boost my energy for the afternoon.

Dinner

Pork cutlets & Brussels sprouts cooked in butter and bacon fat.



Snack

1 ounce pepperoni a little after dinner.

You guys. I had a dream about discovering sweet potato fries in some sort of taco bowl thing I was eating and om-nom-nomming the shit out of them. I have no idea what this means.

On the other hand, I felt fine today. I struggled a bit with after breakfast and after lunch hunger, but it was mild. Body felt fine. Yay.
Breakfast

Keto smoothie + coffee with almond milk. Was hungry after breakfast, despite adding half a Tablespoon of MCT oil to my smoothie.

Lunch

2 ounces rotisserie chicken, salad greens & tahini.


Dinner

A slightly-modified version of Ruled.me’s Crispy Sesame Beef. Subbed jicama for daikon and dropped the crispiness. Recipe to come, this was delicious.


Snack

Made a new fat bomb – this one is coconut butter, coconut oil & stevia.

Today was better. It’s the first time we ate out, and I’m happy to say lunch went well.

I still need to work on jiggering my thinking – too little fat and too much protein today has me a little hungry after 2 Tbsp. coconut butter after dinner.

Lunch

Ate out! Had a classic Cobb salad with grilled chicken and no cheese at SmashBurger. 



Dinner

Dammit. Forgot to take a pic again. Made broccoli & ground beef bowl seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, bacon fat & butter. Delicious. The DH had double meat, double fat & cheese.

Snack

2 Tbsp. Coconut butter & 1 Tbsp. Guacamole while batch cooking.

After last night’s revelation that I just need more fat, expected to be magically awesome today like my jerkface of a husband who feels just peachy.

Apparently the keto flu gods heard me talking smack. 

My upper mouth palette has felt fuzzy for 2 days and my upper teeth feel weird. I have no idea if this is related to the keto or I’m a weirdo. 

I’m also stuck on slow setting today, and my stomach is vaguely unhappy about life in general. 

Hey, but at least I wasn’t starving to death. 

Breakfast

Totally forgot to take a picture again. The DH made me scrambled eggs with a little cream and they were magical. Plus the last of the bacon. 

Also had my normal coffee with almond milk instead of hitting Starbucks.

Snack

Caved after my haircut and grabbed some macadamia nuts instead of starving to death.

Lunch

Picked up some smoked salmon while grocery shopping – had little cucumber points with horseradish mayo.


Dinner

I wasn’t really hungry for dinner – had more macadamia nuts and a jerky bar while out at a movie with friends.

Briefly considered adding a scoop of protein powder to some bone broth, but was full of liquids.

Keto Day 4 of 30

Today was ok, though I miscalculated dinner’s macros and ended up over limit. And I had way too much coffee this morning + waited waaaaaay too long to eat lunch – so I came home carsick from the train and weird feeling from the coffee, and had to take a nap. I was also all over the place during a meeting today mentally – not foggy, just had zero concentration. 

*edit after research: ooooooh. 

So. I’ve been craving almonds like they’re going out of style – which could mean that up until 4 days ago I ate a hell of a lot of almonds and my brain misses them, or maybe I needed a bit more magnesium today since I sweated a bunch during yesterday’s workout and may have gotten rid of too much. The suggested fix is magnesium powder – I haaaated Natural Calm the last time I tried it – or either Himalayan rock salt or grey salt. 

Also: part of my weird feeling today *could* be linked to going a little over in protein. The suggested fix here is moar fat. I need to cool it on erring on the side of protein (dammit) and throw back a fat bomb after dinner if I’m still starving. It may kick me over on calories, but so be it. 

Further signs I need more fat: 

My hand joints hurt often – I figured this was just me getting arthritis way early.

I’m cold a lot – This could also be because my circulation is crap.

I’m hungry again right after eating – Ooooooh. Dumbass.

My skin is always dry, even when I’m drinking tons of water – Oops. 

I have lots of flyaways – Granted, I also have very fine and thin hair. And it’s getting colder, so I’m like static city.
